Fantasy Fudge Cake    

½ cup butter, softened 2 cups sugar
2 large eggs 4 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted & cooled
1 ¾ cups flour ½ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda ¾ tsp. salt
1 ½ cups buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla
Fudge Frosting (recipe follows)

Beat butter at medium speed about 2 minutes or until soft & creamy.
Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until creamy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.|
Add chocolate, mixing well.
Combine flour , baking soda & powder and salt.
Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour batter into 2 greased & floured 9- inch round baking pans.
Bake at 350º for 30 to 35 minutes or until tests done.
Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.
Spread Fudge Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.

6 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped ¾ cup butter
5 cups sifted confectioners sugar ½ cup of half & half
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate & butter in a small saucepan over low heat; remove from heat.
Beat confectioners sugar, half & half, & vanilla at medium speed; add melted chocolate mixture, beating until fluffy.
